Road Trip

Can you believe we are actually going to take a toddler and an infant on a 12 hour road trip?

If you can't, you are wrong.

We have a important family function to attend that happens to be 12 hours away, so we have to go. Yes, a plane ride would be easier and only an hour ride but who can afford that. Can you imagine the cost to have 4 people fly for a one hour ride. If I had money to burn, that would be a different story, but I don't.

I know, I know we will be burning a pretty penny in gas. We did the calculations and it is pretty steep, not as steep as airline tickets, so on the road we go.

So we are going to try and leave while the little angels are sleeping, we have the in car DVD(Thank God for Toy Story and Cars), and I even mapped out strategic stops.

Who thinks it will all go smoothly?

Who thinks I will return with a full head of gray hair?

We shall see. I will definitely let you know how it goes.

I will also be grateful for any advice or tips on traveling in a car with a toddler and infant, extremely grateful.

  1. As long as you stop often enough and try to make the stops really fun, you'll be okay. I think you'll do a great job!
    Good luck!

Okay: you may want to get a few of the DVDs of tv shows he likes. They are 22 minutes and sometimes you need a breather as opposed to a whole movie. You might also think about buying a few of those Crayola color wonder tablets and markers for him to get creative. I also like to get out and run around a couple of times. Good luck.

  3. Hi there- thanks for the blog post! You have such a pretty name! Well, I've traveled wuite extensively with 3 kids and I love those doodle boards- either the Magna Doodle or Auqa Doodle are both winners. Also, carry lots of snacks. And the best advice- the more taveling you can do at night while they can sleep ensures peace for all! Good luck!

  4. Man oh man. I feel your pain. I have traveled with a toddler across the country, and it is oh so interesting. I find flying is easier than driving, but the expense is a big consideration.
