Making Strawberry Pretzel Salad

I am hoping that I will be able to teach my boys a thing or two about cooking.  I really like to bake and any opportunity I get to bake a cake I jump on it.  We recently went to a get together and I volunteered to make Strawberry Pretzel Salad.
I had never tried this until a few years ago.  I am told it is a Southern dish, I am not certain about this, but I am certain that it is good.
The best part is the cream cheese, sugar, whipped topping layer.  Francesco helped me by turning the mixer on and off.  I even taught him the best part of baking...licking the spoon.
I unfortunately never did take a picture of the finished product but we had a great time doing together.

My site is under a little construction, if you had not noticed.  I am learning a lot about blog templates and how to put larger photo's on my site.  Now I will inundate you all with my pictures on a larger scale.

Momma and Her Boys

First my awesome news...I am finished my test. I won't know for a few weeks if I passed but at least I am finished. I feel pretty confident that I will pass. I hope I won't be eating those words.

Second, I was looking through files and files of picture to make a book for Francesco and found this one of us from when he was about 6-7 months old. He looks like he has a tan compared to me and he has such dark eyes and dark hair. He's down right cute.

Then I realized I had a recent picture of Nicolo and I with him in the same outfit. Mind you he is a month or 2 younger than Francesco was...but fitting in the same outfit. He has the dark eyes but look how light his hair and complexion is. They look so different, but still down right cute.
It amazing to realize I have these two beautiful boys! So this Friday I am thankful for:
1. My boys
2. Being done my test.
3. The week is finally over and no trips to the ER.
4. My husband who is buying me a bigger car (aka Mini-Van) so we have more room for more boy stuff.
5. It's now the end of the day and I am heading home...with my boys!

Best Shot Monday

Look what my little man learned to do this weekend! We only had to show him once how to stop at the line and roll the ball. He loved it.

Croup there it is....

So as I had said it's been a little crazy over here at Mia Due Bambini.  It definitely has something to do with my two boy!
As you all have seen Francesco bought himself four stitches last Friday.  He was running one way looking the other and tripped.  We spent a total of 3 hours in the ER to have four stitches placed in his chin.  Those came out with a little protest...okay a lot on Wednesday.
So there we were on an ideal Wednesday, putting the kids to bed.  All were fed, bathed and ready for slumber.
Around 10:30 we hear Nicolo cough like a seal.  G goes in to check on him and picks him up.  I come in and he is patting him on his back saying "I think he has some phlegm stuck".  I then realize that he has stridor!  He is having a hard time moving air out as well as in!  I listen with my stethoscope and he is wheezing terribly.  He has CROUP!
I take him outside for a total of 5 second and run him up to our bathroom.  G had the shower already on and steaming up the bathroom.  I proceed to call the doctors after hour line.  When the operator could not get my number right I told her to forget it I will take him to the ER.
We put him in the truck and I take off for the hospital.
I get behind a car on a one lane road going 5 mph!!!!! I put on my flashers and they graciously move over.  I then forget to turn my flashers off.  The whole time Nicolo is in the car seat next to me having a hard time breathing....but smiles at me when I talk to him.
I get to a red light and wait impatiently for it to turn green.  Just as it turns a police officer drives by.  He sees my flashers and pulls me over!
He calls the paramedics...I am now only 3 miles from the hospital!  He make me wait and gives me a lecture on calling 911.
So the paramedics get there, and when they put him on the pulse ox he registers at 100%.  I take a small sigh of relief.  At least now I know he is perfusing.  They start him on a cool saline nebulizer.
We get to the hospital and we get seen right away.  His breathing was still labored but improved by this time.  The doctor checks him out and feels he needs a dose of OraPred and a cool mist nebulizer.
The doctor tells me the two thing that freaks parents out is Croup and Febrile Seizures.....been there, done that!
In the end he was just fine, we were released at 2:00 in the morning.  Since I had to wait for Paramedic I had to have G come with Francesco to get us and stop to pick up the truck on the way home.
I spent the next two night sleeping in Nicolo's room in case he had more episodes (which I was warned may happen).  Happy to report that did not occur.
Called the PCP the next day to find out if they wanted to see the baby, they felt that it was not necessary unless he had another episode.  The nurse did tell me that her arms were still sore form holding Francesco down the day before to have his stitches removed!

All I can say at this point is !@#$%^&*()!@#$%^&....not to mention I have a gazillion new gray hairs.

Must say that Nicolo was still an absolutely pleasant child through this whole ordeal...where did I get this kids?

Theme Thursday: (Saturday Edition) Playtime

I know I am two days late with this Theme Thursday. We've had some crazy times here at Mia Due Bambini with my two boys! I'll save that story for another post. I was excited for this past Theme Thursday because I love to see my kids starting to play together. Every time there is even a remote possibility they are interacting with each other I grab the camera.
Here Francesco is showing Nicolò the art of stacking blocks.
I don't know what Nicolò is thinking but I just loved the expression on his face.
Again here is Francesco demonstrating how the baby gym operates.
And Nicolò is patiently watching taking notes.

It's all fun and games...

till someone busts open their chin!

Let me just say that getting the stitches was more traumatic for me.

After a 2 hour 15 min wait in the ER it took less than a minute to have them placed.

That's how I spent my Friday morning, how about you?

Theme Thursday: Friendship

I am hoping and praying that this friendship will last them their lifetime!
If the colors looked muted I did that on purpose, just playing with photoshop.
I thought it gave it a neat effect.

Busy, busy, busy!

Lord, have I been busy and it not doing anything fun like blogging or photography. I have a project at work that is really taken off and a re-certification exam that is consuming almost every other spare minute of my time.

I am blogging now because I actually have 23 mins before a meeting. I wanted to put out a quick post and a few pictures, then read a few of my fellow blogger's that I haven't got to all week or weekend. I haven't even look to see what my reader is up to. I don't think I even want to know.

Here is a little hodgepodge of pictures, all taken by my husband except the one of Nicolo with the Binky.

I really like this one, he usually only snaps picture if we are looking at the camera, I think he captured this by mistake.
This is how Francesco is all the time, 24/7.
Me and my sweet baby.
Binky Boy.
This is an attempt to get a picture of me with the Tasmanian devil, I was surprised there isn't a lot more motion in this picture because he would not sit still for nothing.
My exam end in 2 1/2 weeks. Hope fully things will slow down, the weather will cool, the leaves will change and I will get some Mommy/Blogging/Photo time!
