Mia Due Bambini

~My two children~

Bubbie's Corner is no more. His brother Hercules is here and he is going to share his little corner of the web.

It has been a busy two weeks, lots of diapers changes, feeding and tons of love. Bubbie is doing great with his brother, much better than Mommy ever thought. Hercules is such a different baby than Bubbie and we are glad of that. Bubbie was a high demand infant (probably because I jumped at his every cry) and Hercules is so laid back. We joke that Bubbie looks like G and has my type A personality and Hercules look like me and had G's laid back personality.

Hercules had his first doctors appointment last week. We left the hospital 2 ozs heavier than birth and when we got to the pediatrician a week latter he was another 2.8 ozs. So a 9 lbs 4.8 ozs they felt that we did not require any weight checks and could come back in a month.

Being the mother of a second baby has also been very different. I don't jump at every whimper, and I do not wake a sleeping baby after two hours because he "should be hungry". I am so much more relaxed the second time around. I guess that since Bubbie made it we must know something.

Bubbie has done extremely well with the new addition. The only issue we have had, has been going to bed at night. He use to go down for the night without a fight and by himself. In the past 2 weeks we have had to sit in the room with him. No we try to put the baby to bed first *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* and we let Bubbie kiss him and turn the light out in his room, then Bubbie goes to bed afterwards. The first night we tried this it didn't work, but day three we had a fairly peaceful bedtime. Keep your fingers crossed.

G goes back to work this week and then it is just me and the baby at home (I am so looking forward to that). It really cracked me up that my husband took time off from work to help me with the baby for two weeks after delivery. It cracked me up because he painted the living room, redirected the downspouts on the house, dug up the back yard, reseeded the lawn, and played with his new work laptop. Even funnier was him calling me on his cell phone from the backyard (while I am in the shower with the baby in the bouncy in the bathroom) to get him supplies.

All in all we are all doing well and very blessed with two health children (due bambini). The adventure of motherhood continues and just got more exciting!

4-10-08 @ 10:08

Hercules is here! I was scheduled to have a c-section Monday morning but my boys like to do it their way. I called him Hercules while in-utero because his kicks were so strong, well I found out why, he was 9 lbs.
Here's his stats:
Weight: 9 lbs, 0 ozs
Length: 20 1/2 inches
I went to the doctors on Wednesday night and all was status quo. He said see ya Monday. Thursday morning I went into labor at 5:17 am. I was trying to accommodate G's request to have this one during normal business hour, I was close enough.
By the time I got to the hospital I was really uncomfortable (aka- lots of pain), even though I was going to get a c-section they didn't know when so they offered me an epidural. With Bubbie I had 3 epidurals that I "failed" (they failed me) so I was not to optimistic. I was glad I went for it. This time I got much more pain relief and was able to breath through the contractions until the surgery.
The c-section went fast and all was well with the baby, G again watched the whole thing which amazed the doctors. They wanted to know if he was in the medical profession, I had to break it to them that he was really a computer geek genius.

Bubbie came to visit twice now. The first visit he completely ignored the baby, like he didn't even exists. The second visit he would look his way when he cried or cued and he did kiss him on the head before he left. I hope it goes as well when we get home.

Here are a couple of pictures of my BOYS!

7 Days to Go!

Can you believe I only have at the least 7 more days to go!
G took this picture this morning before work, as you can see I am as big as the house!

Yesterday the baby decided to take it easy all morning to the point I was worried. I had a non-stress test and all was well. Once I was on the monitor he decided to get up for the day. Then he decided to have a party the rest of the day.

I am in the deep throws of nesting. I just feel this insatiable need to put things away and wash everything. I cleaned every washable cover for all the baby things from Bubbie. All the receiving blankets and blanket. I have even finished the baby blanket I was making for him (I stayed up one night just to finish it).

I think I am ready!

My biggest fear right now is Bubbie. He either knows something is coming or he is going through the terrible two's. Lately he has had numerous meltdowns and only wants to be held by his momma. I am so afraid he is going to feel like I left him when I am in the hospital for a few days. I know he is young and he will adjust but he is still my baby for the next 7 days.

Any good suggestion helping Bubbie feel like the big brother once the baby is here. I know he will eventually adjust, but I would love to make it easier (probably more for me).

I will keep you all updated.

You really shoud drink light beer.

I am still pregnant with 12 days to go. I am still working full-time so I encounter many people throughout the day. I am getting so many comments about how "pregnant" I am or look.
You know your huge when people say:
~You're still here?
~You look like your going to pop.
~You're REALLY pregnant.
~Weren't you due last week?
~Are you sure your not having twins?
~That's going to be a big baby.
And yesterday as I walked waddled to my office one of the security guards says to me..."You really should drink light beer."
