Team-Up Thursday - Numbers

Jen and I picked the theme numbers this week. I saw numbers everywhere but just could not find anything I wanted to photograph. I tried to take a shot of my calendar, but it just looked chaotic, I tried the button of the phone, it was uninspiring.

Then on Wednesday morning I started to pick up cars off the living room floor. I was curious about how many I had picked up so I counted them. Then it hit me. So I arranged them in the number and took the photo. It's not the best photograph, but I think it's fun.

I like the different font's in Jen's and as always she captures great DOF. I was intrigued by what is was too. Jen said it was a bunch of numbers in different font's she typed up and printed out. I like how she thought outside the box. I thought it was a secret code.

I also am enjoying the striking contrast between the two, B&W vs color.

365 - Week 19

What I have learned in 19 weeks:
1. I really struggle with Monday's, sometime I will be getting ready for bed and realize I haven't taken a picture. Mind you I had my camera with me all day, just not the opportunity to get it out.
2. I am getting a little tired of the plants around my house, I am ready to dig up the bushes in the front yard.
3. Kids move fast, it's a stroke of luck if you can get them all to look at you at the same time.
4. Sometime you just have to switch it back to auto, and sometime (when you are really sick) it's okay not to pick up the camera.
5. It's fun to look back and see the past in such a vivid form and I can't wait to see the end result.
6. I regret painting my walls anything but white (just kidding), the white balance at my house is horrible!
7. I love to photograph children at play, when they really don't know or care that you are taking their picture.
8. I get a little adrenalin rush pulling off the road and stopping to take a picture at random places.
9. I've taken 44,680 pictures (current shutter actuation's) since I received my camera.
10. I still love photography!

Team-Up Thursday - Motion

Jen and I chose the theme motion for this week. I was excited about this since it's seems like that is all I usually capture with the boys. I had a couple of idea's of what I wanted to capture but none of them came to be. One was of the boys whizzing around in the Power-Wheels and one was of the cars coming down the hill outside our house.

The first idea was shot (no pun intended) due to the rain and the second idea I just could not make work. Then I got sick (due to my love of sushi) and was totally not in the mood to pick up the camera. If only I could have capture the room spinning motion I was experiencing, that would have been interesting.

Needless to say I have recovered, thank God, and I had to dig into my archives for this shot. I knew exactly which one I was looking for and I think the combo came out great. I remember having a swing like the one Jen's kid's are playing on, I love how she caught Harper's hair and Miller's feet in motion. They look like they are having such a fabulous time too.

Mind, like I said was from a little while back but I remember when I took it. We was coming home late one night and it had just rained. I liked the way the light of the cars and street lights reflected off the ground. I put the camera on the dash to help steady it and took a couple of shots, I like the motion in them so they were keepers. (Just so you know I was the passenger, not the driver)

Kindergarten Redshirting

Have you ever hear that term redshirting? It's the practice of postponing an age-eligible child front entering kindergarten for a year. I recently realized that my oldest will be eligible to go to kindergarten next year. Which means that by the end of this year or as late as early (Jan) next year I need to make a decision about when and were he goes.

When did that happen???????? He is only going to be 4 at the end of July, only 4! He will then turn 5 at the end of July 2011 and technically be eligible to go to Kindergarten in Aug/Sept 2011. Again...when did that happen.

I am struggling with the decision for him to do Pre-K again or go to Kindergarten. Why am I thinking about this now you ask? Because no matter what I decide that application/registration process needs to be completed by, anywhere between the end of Nov 2010 to the end of Jan 2011. I know as well as the rest of you that the time will be here before I know it. I am also looking early because this is also going to cost me. He will have to do a full day no matter where he goes as well as a before and after care. I need to make sure that I will be able to afford it or start putting aside now to supplement. Argghhhh!

Have you hear of the postponing of school for kids with summer birthdays? I hear it practiced even more for boys. How do you know if they are ready? How do you know they aren't? Where is the handbook? I would love to know others thoughts on the subject.

Look at him, I just want to make the right choice.

Best Shot Monday - First Communion

My sweet niece made her 1st Holy Communion this weekend. I remember how nervous I was to make my first communion. You could see the tension in the children's faces as they approached the priest for the first time and then the proud relief when they had finished sipping the communion wine. The best part is the gathering of family and friends to celebrate the occasion. Not to mentions she is awfully cute. Don't let this photo fool you, she is a little spitfire.

The path lead me to my family and a celebration of a sacrament. Where did yours lead you this weekend. Head on over to Tracey's for more Best Shot Monday's.

365 - Week 18

Whew! So glad I was able to get this done before the weekend was over.

Week 18

Mister potato-head was the result of me realizing at 9:30 pm Monday night I hadn't taken a photo. The middle photo was the look he gave me as he asked for a second Popsicle, of course I gave it to him.

Team Up Thursday : Out of Focus

"You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus"
~Mark Twain

Out of Focus

This week Jen and I chose the theme, out of focus. I love how we were both on the same wavelength too. I particularly like her soft almost creamy bokeh, it's like looking through a kaleidoscope.
I think this is one of my favorite so far. I just love the dreamy feel they both have.

Week 17

I just said to my husband, "can you believe I have taken a picture everyday for the past 17 weeks?" He said, "yes, yes I can!"
Sometime I don't believe it myself but it's been a fun journey, and I still have a long way to go.
