Best Shot Monday

I was going through some of the photo's I was trying to take if this cactus and found this one when, Pixel, my cat got in the scene. Out of all the shots I took I liked this one the best. I like how the flowers of the cactus are in focus and she is just out. It also go to show where she spend a lot of her time, in the window sill in my plants.

bsm_cactus

She has not eaten this cactus...yet. She did make short work of my Shamrock and mostly the flowers.

Conversations with a 3 1/2 year old.

At the Breakfast table~

M: What do you want for breakfast?
F: Can I watch Phineas and Ferb?

M: First tell me what you want for breakfast. Cheerios or Oatmeal?
F: I want to watch Phineas and Ferb.

M: I heard you but tell me what you want to eat. Banana or Strawberries?
F: (singing) Phineas and Ferb, Phineas and Ferb, Phineas and Ferb!

M: Come on Francesco, just tell me what you want to eat.
F: But Mommy, I have to tell you something.

M: Okay, I am listening.

M: I HEARD you the first time you said that, fine I'll decide what you eat.
F: But Mommy, I have to tell you something.

365 - Week 12

Spring has Sprung here on the East Coast. We are having a little cold spell today but I am hoping that doesn't last long, at least it is sunny out.
Everything is sprouting, even my kids.

Friday Lights

There is something about this picture that I really like. I not sure if its the DOF, the soft light, the way her ring and the rings of the book pull it together or all three. I am sure I like it because it reminds me of a Sunday morning having breakfast with my sister in a cafe.

I am finding that taking pictures everyday makes me look at things differently and also helps me to remember.

Team-Up Thursday: Spring

Seeing how last weekend was so gorgeous here it only seemed right to go with the theme of Spring. What could be better than all the new life that is emerging. Well, don't you know it started to rain right after Jen and I agreed on the theme...I was like ugh! Today the clouds lifted, the sky was blue and the sun shone bright. I took a walk at lunch and found a lot of budding trees, it was the sign that Spring is really here!

I like how mine is a bud, and Jen's are flowers. The DOF and how the green (New Green Momma) in hers contrasts the brown in mine. Like I said, Spring has Sprung!

They won't pass this way again.

I have to keep telling this to myself. I have been extremely frustrated with all the boys lately and I feel really guilty about it. I've had some drama that has really weighed heavy on my heart and I tend to loose my temper easily with my family instead of with those who are really the issue.
I remember reading Kat's post where she had mentioned some parenting advise that one of her reader had relayed to her. Sara , said that the best advice came from her father regarding her daughter when he would say, "Remember, she won't pass this way again."

It struck a cord with her and it did with me as well. I look at this photo and it make me tear up. They will never pass this way again, and I need to remind myself of that EVERYDAY.

3_19-13

I realized my shortcoming and I am working to let the drama go, it's totally not worth the effort, but my boys are. I am truly fortunate that my wonderful husband realizes all this and puts up with me (that's why I married him).

Best Shot Monday!

We started out our day here...

This smile is from getting the all clear from the Ortho Doctor to come out of the cast boot!

Let's just say, it never slowed him down.

I think I like his shot the best, the perspective, the angle and how he got the sign in there. It tells the story.

365 - Week 11

This was a tough week in more ways than one. There were days I had to remind myself to take a picture and then days where I had so much to photograph. I can say that with all the trials and tribulation of this week that taking photos is very cathartic for me. I have looked back at my other weeks and I am really glad that I decided to take this project on.

Week11

Press on.

Team-Up Thursday - Saint Patrick's Day

Jen and I thought Saint Patrick's would be an appropriate theme for this week. I love the DOF on her shot, the necklace reminds me of Mardi Gras. I bought a shamrock a couple a weeks back, hoping for some luck, I am still waiting to see if it works.

These Hands

These hands cracked the eggs.
These hands put the ingredients in the mixer.
These hands help me frost and sugar the cupcakes.
These hands carried the cupcakes into school.

365: Week 10

Wow 10 weeks down and 42 to go. Some days I almost forgot to take a photo, others I drove people nuts whipping out the camera everywhere.

Week 10

I hope I don't loose my steam. I am going to take Tracey's class Picture Spring in April in hopes to give me a boost. I am certain it will since Tracey truly inspires me with her photos and words.

Team Up Thursday : FLARE!

Jen and I decided to do sun flare this week. I loved the idea because it was going to be 50 degrees, nice and sunny all weekend. The weather was all that and more but I did not get my shot outside. I was working on the laundry in my room when I decides to open the shades all the way. The light coming in was just so bright I thought...FLARE!

I love that inJen's you can see the kids...in their bathing suits no less. I'm also a little bit jealous of her awesomely large looking backyard!

Best Shot Monday

With all the craziness going on around here I truly did not think I would get this post up tonight. My oldest was sick with Strep Throat on Friday, back to himself Saturday and jumped off the couch injuring his foot. He limped on an off all day Sunday and this morning. I took him to the Orthopedic doctor this a.m and he was felt to have a growth plate fracture of the heel. Now he gets to wear a cast boot x 3 weeks. I just could not see him in a cast, we would be back every other day with some kind of toy stuck in it.

Nicolo seemed to be weathering the storm well until I picked him up from daycare. He was glassy eyed and warm, fever 101.7 and a red throat. One doctor visit later and the Strep count is now up to 2 in our house.

We did manage to get outside both days over this beautiful weekend. I like this shot because I wonder what he is pointing to. Could be a plane, geese, the firetruck coming down the hill...or all three at once. Either way he is awfully cute in my book.

Sickness

For those of you who know Francesco and those who have read my blog I am pretty sure you get a sense of the enormous amount of energy the boy has.

Friday morning (12:20 am) he woke up coughing and crying, low grade fever. Within the hour he was at 103.5 degrees F, a dose of Motrin and another hour we were all back to sleep.

Come the lovely hour of 5 a.m. the fever had returned, now it's time for Tylenol. By the time my husband left for work with Nicolo I was starting to question if he was really sick, he was bouncing off the walls.

2 hours later as I was on a conference call for work I knew he was not well. He told me he was "tired" ( totally not something he would ever say) and then he laid still and quiet on the couch. I actually had the people on the call hold on a second so I could check on him because he was so quiet.

After my call I knew he needed to see the doctor, also because when I looked at his throat I saw a bunch of "pus" on his tonsils. I had given him another dose of Motrin by this time and as we waiting in the doctors off he played cars, rode around the room on the doctors stool, and open all the drawers that were not locked. I again started to question if he was sick.

As I tried to explain to the doctor that this child who was tearing up his exam room was really sick, he stopped me and said, "his rapid Step was positive, good call Mom!"

Again as the afternoon progressed he was "tired" and as the Motrin kicked in he bounced off the walls. It was like caring for Sybil.

This a.m. , after a few doses of antibiotics, he was back to normal, which means he was never tired and did not stop all day. All day (starting at 6:00 a.m.)!

Team Up Thursday : Lunch

I was having a hard time thinking of an idea for theme this week to suggest to Jen when I resorted to asking my 3 year old. I said to Francesco, "What should mommy take a picture of?", his response was "Lunch." When I told Jen this she said let do it.

I then got the opportunity to go to lunch with my favorite person at my favorite restaurant and ate my favorite dish. Yes, I had lunch with my hubby and I had Crunchy Spicy Tuna Sushi! 10 years ago I would have never eaten raw fish but sushi has become one of my favorite.

Lunch_Team_Up_Thursday

Jen's looks yummy too, fresh fruit is always so good and good for you! When Francesco saw it he said, "Ohhh, I love them strawberries!"

Best Shot Monday

There is nothing I enjoy more than family dinners. Yesterday we surprised my father-in-law with a Birthday Lunch/Dinner at a nice Italian Restaurant. I made the cake and they took it for me and then brought it out with the candles all lite. To top is all off we (along with the staff) sang him Happy Birthday in Italian. He was beaming!

Buon Compleanno, Nonno Ciccio!
