Best Shot Monday

I've said this before, I thought my second child was going to be a newer version of the older one. Once I found out he was going to be a boy I also thought he would be another version of my husband. Everyday I am amazed at how completely different my boys really are, from looks to temperament.
I saw this photo of Nicolo and I that was taken by my nephew at a family get together and was amazed at what I saw. I see my husband in his eyes and my dad in his expressions, but you see that little dimple on his right cheek...that's mine. Now that I saw it in the photo I see it all the time. That my piece and I love it.

I wondered if you could love another child just as much as you love the first when I was pregnant with him. I actually worried about it. I have never worried about it since the moment I saw him. He is his own person, he got his own looks, his own personality and he very own place in my heart.

  1. YOUR piece - I love it! Seeing ourselves reflected in our kiddos is the most amazing thing. People say all the time that Nadia looks just like me, and I don't see it...I see bits of me in her, but she is WAY more gorgeous!

  2. What a great shot of your both! I thought the same thing when my second came along and even though the sex was different, I thought he would be a boy version of his sister. Weird. Each one is so precious.

  4. You are so right. We have all these thoughts and expectations and it never ends up the way we think it will be. How sweet that he has your dimple.

  5. I can so relate. I felt the same way before my 2nd is born. I also had no idea how boy would be. It is something very special! Great shot of you two!

It is hard to imagine how much you will love someone else, but than it happens. And wow, the emotional connections is so strong.

  9. Yay for pieces of mommy! Anytime someone says one of my boys resembles me, I'm thrilled, but I never believe it. :) I absolutely love this picture of you two. Which nephew took it? Dawned on me you have several nephews!
