365 - Week 19

What I have learned in 19 weeks:
1. I really struggle with Monday's, sometime I will be getting ready for bed and realize I haven't taken a picture. Mind you I had my camera with me all day, just not the opportunity to get it out.
2. I am getting a little tired of the plants around my house, I am ready to dig up the bushes in the front yard.
3. Kids move fast, it's a stroke of luck if you can get them all to look at you at the same time.
4. Sometime you just have to switch it back to auto, and sometime (when you are really sick) it's okay not to pick up the camera.
5. It's fun to look back and see the past in such a vivid form and I can't wait to see the end result.
6. I regret painting my walls anything but white (just kidding), the white balance at my house is horrible!
7. I love to photograph children at play, when they really don't know or care that you are taking their picture.
8. I get a little adrenalin rush pulling off the road and stopping to take a picture at random places.
9. I've taken 44,680 pictures (current shutter actuation's) since I received my camera.
10. I still love photography!

365 - Week 18

Whew! So glad I was able to get this done before the weekend was over.

Week 18

Mister potato-head was the result of me realizing at 9:30 pm Monday night I hadn't taken a photo. The middle photo was the look he gave me as he asked for a second Popsicle, of course I gave it to him.

Week 17

I just said to my husband, "can you believe I have taken a picture everyday for the past 17 weeks?" He said, "yes, yes I can!"
Sometime I don't believe it myself but it's been a fun journey, and I still have a long way to go.

365 - Week 16

Another week under my belt. In 10 more I will be half way there!

Week 16

The middle picture is my Birthday present from my wonderful husband. Its 2 hearts, the big one in the back say, "I love you all" over it and the little one in the front say, "Let me count the ways". I just love him for thinking of me!

365 - Week 14

Now remember I said it would be slim pickings this week. Yes that top left picture is of the dish soap and the bubble that was at the base. I was so busy that day that I had almost forgot to take a picture. My favorite is the one of Francesco and Emily in the middle. I think they are going to be great friends, they are like 2 peas in a pod. Her mother tells me she is the female version of Francesco. That would be opinionated, strong willed and loud...and that's what we love about them!
Week 15

As you can see by the one shot of Nicolo, pretending to cry, he has turned into a full fledged 2 year old. Man does that boy have a temper...and that's what I love about him (LOL)!

Sigh! So glad I made it through the week, I have even almost caught up on my Picture Spring assignments. I am only behind on one, that will turn into two by tomorrow morning. Here is to hoping for a good week all around, photographically, home and work wise. ~crossing my fingers~

Week 14

Talk about being behind. I am just getting to posting my 365 pictures from last week. I really could use a couple of extra hours in a day.

Week 14

I really can't pick one favorite from this group since there are a few photo of my love ones in it an I love them all!

I can say that next week will be slim picking. If it taken me till Tues to get to last weeks you can only imagine how behind I am. Lets just say all I took a picture of yesterday was the dish soap and the cutting board...that should speak volumes.

Stay tuned.

365- Week 13

What a week:
  • My husband was away on business.
  • Went to the ER Tuesday morning with Nicolo for an injury to the eye. Thank the Lord it was not serious and in two days you never knew it happened. (Baked cookies and cupcakes for bake sale)
  • Wednesday 4:30 a.m. I am giving Francesco nebulized saline for croup. Went to the doctor to get steroid, then called by daycare at 3:00 for a 102 fever. (Frosted cupcakes for bake sale)
  • Thursday, took Nicolo and bake sale items to school. Took Francesco to his Nonno's (can't go to daycare for 24 hours after a fever), went to the dentist (fun), pick up Nicolo early...croupy cough.
  • Friday- travel to parents with kids, shopped for shoes and clothes for a wedding in May (Thanks Mom you're the best).
  • Saturday- 4:00 am, Nicolo with fever and croupy cough worse. Traveled home to get medication. Realized I left my camera battery charger at parents. Had to buy a new one.
  • Sunday- brunch with the family, laundry, laundry, egg hunt, cleaning, laundry....collapse.
  • Still took pictures everyday!
So glad this week is over, so glad my husband is home, hope this is the last croup for the season.

365 - Week 12

Spring has Sprung here on the East Coast. We are having a little cold spell today but I am hoping that doesn't last long, at least it is sunny out.
Everything is sprouting, even my kids.

365 - Week 11

This was a tough week in more ways than one. There were days I had to remind myself to take a picture and then days where I had so much to photograph. I can say that with all the trials and tribulation of this week that taking photos is very cathartic for me. I have looked back at my other weeks and I am really glad that I decided to take this project on.

Week11

Press on.

365: Week 10

Wow 10 weeks down and 42 to go. Some days I almost forgot to take a photo, others I drove people nuts whipping out the camera everywhere.

Week 10

I hope I don't loose my steam. I am going to take Tracey's class Picture Spring in April in hopes to give me a boost. I am certain it will since Tracey truly inspires me with her photos and words.

Finding Balance

I said in my last post that there were some photo I took that I loved and some that I hated. Some of them just did not come out as I had pictured them in my mind. I see pictures everywhere and I try to capture that but it can be hit or miss. I'm okay with that too. I post the ones I don't like because I am trying to be true to the 365 project. If the only picture I have for a day is a bad one, it goes up.

Then there are the shots that come out exactly like I saw it in my head. Here is Francesco trying to balance on parking concrete barriers. I got down at the end of the run so I like the perspective, I like the concentration on his face and I captured the moment forever in time. I love it!

I can truly say that with all the good and the bad pictures I have learned a ton about my camera, about photography, about using accessory equipment, about the advantage of always having my camera and how much I really love it all!

Now I am trying to convince my husband to get me this Epihanie Bag since he hates that I put it in my pocketbook.

Week 7

I've decided to post my 365 project here on this blog. I can barely keep up with the laundry let alone two blogs. I though it would be a good idea to separate them but not now. I usually spend time writing a post here that I posted there. I did move the older Mosaics to a page here on this site. I though about moving them over as posts but this time I thought twice.

Week 7, originally uploaded by cgiordan25.

I have a few shot that make me laugh when I see them. The first is the book bag full of spoons. The boy pulled out all the plastic silverware from one of the drawers while I made dinner Monday night. I told them to pick them up and later was surprised that they did. Tuesday morning I went to put their lunches in the backpack and there were all the spoons.

The other is of my kitchen table, I laugh because it's the only picture I took on Saturday. I spent most he day scrubbing said kitchen floor and recovering the kitchen chairs with a PVC/Vinyl (can you say washable). I also covered the floor under Nicolo's chair with 20 gauge clear vinyl, lets just say I had to do some intense scrubbing to clean the floor where he sits. I like the shot because that is how my kitchen table and chairs SHOULD look.

Six Weeks Down

365 project update:
  • In disbelief that I am still going strong.
  • I am enjoying the documentation of my day to day.
  • I posted new photo over at Moments in Time.
  • I am so glad that Jen asked me to be her Team Up Thursday Partner, it's been fun and a real challenge.
  • I just signed up for Picture Spring and I am excited to take this workshop that is being taught by Tracey.

Hope you all have a great weekend. For me as long as it doesn't snow or we lose power I will be extremely happy!

Another Rough Week

Wow, I can not believe it is already the end of January. As you might have guessed from my lack of posting I have been very busy both at home and work. We have a big project we are working on and a huge deadline in two weeks. I am not stressed in the least (if you believe that I have a bridge I want to sell you).

There were a few ups and one really bad down this week. A childhood friend of mine lost her 10 year old son to a rare brain cancer. He lived a lot longer than any of the doctors had expected. He fought the good fight. Ethan will be dearly missed, we know he has earned his wings! Michelle and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.

It hard to think that anything going on in my life is all that bad after finding out about Ethan. I just can't imagine it and I hugged my children extra hard last night. I going to hug them even more now (I'm already on the verge of smothering them but I going to still hug them more).

On a lighter side I did finish another week of photos, some issues with sensor dust this week. I did suck it up and cleaned it myself, not as intimidating as I thought. I still see 2 small specks but I am going to take it to a camera shop to see if they have a sensor loop to look at it. I can not see these speck on the sensor when I look directly at it but I see them in the view finder and on the photos.

Another good think happened this week. Jen from New Green Momma asked me to partner up with her for Megan and Melody's Thursday Team-Up. I am super excited about that, Jen is so talented in so many ways. I will definitely be posting Thursday so check back. I am also going to try to get my BSM up early this week. I missed it the last 2 Mondays. I propose we go to a 26 hour day on Sundays to give me two more hours to get stuff done.

I hope that you all had a good week and that your weekends are even better. To all my southern friends getting the snow and ice please stay warm.

Bullet Points

  • Saturday - friend over during the day with kids
  • Sunday - Birthday party out in "God's Country" with the gloomy rain.
  • Monday - 25 year anniversary for a co-worker, I worked on a slide show and a sign.
  • Tuesday- Meniere's "episode" which left me with vertigo for 24 hours, the nausea and vomiting was controlled by the Meclazine. Husband took kids as soon as I got home and I was in bed by 6:30.
  • Wednesday- vertigo gone, important post go-live visit at work, so glad to be feeling better.
  • Thursday- lots of work questions answered, really going to miss Megan.
  • Friday - Franceso's follow up, all went well and we got a clean bill.
  • Saturday- uploaded photos and posted on Moments In Time for my 365 project. 3 weeks down, 49 to go.
I was really bad about posting here this week but as always life gets in the way. I have the pictures to prove it (LOL)!

I also need to post a picture here as well, this is breakfast time on Friday and Francesco is taking the photo with my remote. We have started to put the camera on the tripod and have some fun with the remote.

New Pictures - 365

  • I got the opportunity to sit down tonight and post on my 365 project over at Moments in Time.
  • I have been diligent about having my camera with me.
  • My bag feel strange during the rare moments when it's not in there.
  • I continue to learn something new each day and that has been the best part.

My 365

So I started a really simple blog to post my 365 project on, the blog is called "Moments in Time". I hope you get a chance to visit. I plan on posting at least weekly. I have been learning a lot and so far enjoying the process, even if it's only been a week.

Crossing my finger I will go the distance!

A new year

So I was thinking...

(self portrait of me at work)
I am going to attempt a 365 project.
So far, I have been taking pictures everyday. Some pictures I like, some I don't. I carry my camera everywhere but I need to get over the worry that people will think I am strange whipping out the camera in the grocery store or the doctors office and just do it.
I am going to start another blog to post the photos and only post weekly. I am going to try an dedicate Sunday night for that task. I will send out the link after I get the first post up.
Wish me luck, last year I tried this and only made it a few weeks. This year I really, really, really want to go the distance.
