I saw a post last week with a great picture of Pumpkin Muffins, I was inspired. For the life of me I can not recall who posted it and I could not find it looking back through most of the blogs on my reader. I really wanted to give a shout out to the person that inspired me to bake up not one but two batches of pumpkin muffins.
If it was you, Thanks!
Then I was inspired to take a picture of them by my friend over at Baked By Beanie. She had asked me to take some pictures of her beautiful creations, which I haven't had the chance to do yet. Then I thought I have never really taken pictures of food and I should give it a try.
I know this isn't the greatest, it my first try. I think it definitely lacks something somewhere in the composition or the angle. I am not quite sure. This was the best shot I took and it really isn't doing it for me. I think I am going to go look up some web sites about photographing food.
As you can also see there were not that many muffins on the plate, that is due to their popularity around here. I used the pumpkin as filler. When I went to get the muffins out this morning that was all that was there. As soon as I said I was finished taking the picture, this happened.
Funny thing is I like this picture better than any of the others.
Now, just because I can't get enough of him, here a picture of one of my favorite muffins. Isn't he scrumdidilyumptious!
Anyone have any good tips of food photography or were I can go to find out? Any advise would be awesome!
Mmmm, those look yummy! I've been wanting to make some pumpkin bread/muffins too. I'm not much of a food photographer, either. I like your tablecloth!
ReplyDeletelooks great! not bad for your first time! I'll give you some more practice this week, I have some White Almond Sour Cream cupcakes in the freezer and I was going to decorate them with fall colors and small fondant accents like pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteThen you can take half home to try it finally!
My little one and I are in a weekly playgroup and the Mom who hosted last week made the ymmiest pumpkin bread. I'll be getting the recipe soon and will be happy to send it along. I mean, it was SO GOOD. But won't be as yummy as your little muffin ;)
ReplyDeleteFall is such a great time of year isn't it?
P.S., my hubby is a photographer and recommended photo.net. They have a forum that might help you out!
Oh, those look yummy! I think you did good on your first foray into food photography. The one thing I have read is to shoot them on white tableware, so you got that right. Maybe get up closer??
ReplyDeleteMMMM..I LOVE pumpkin bread/muffins!! Yummy! But, that other muffin of yours is sooooo freakin adorable! No hints on photographing food here...but, I love that second one of the muffin...I think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteMmmm...I just made a batch tonight, too! I make them a lot - the girls love them for breakfast, which is usually a hard sell in my house. So I've been trying out muffins. I made our pumpkin muffins tonight with choco chips. DIVINE. Mmmm...
ReplyDeleteYeah, always white plates and I'd get a little bit closer, too. So we can see the yummy texture!
Enjoy!
Oh yummy! I'm not sure what looks yummier, the pumpkin muffins or those scrumptious cheeks of his!
ReplyDeletemmm those look good and I am not even a fan of pumpkin! Not sure I have any advise, have you checked out the forums on flickr they have some awesome advise!
ReplyDeleteI never can get my food to look right when I photograph it. Those muffins look yummy.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find your e-mail address to respond to your questions that you left me. On my WW post they are in a corn maze. I have not attempted a quilt, but I think that is a great idea.
Yummy, I just got the ingredients to make pumpkin muffins but haven't yet. No ideas on photography, I just stumble into what I envision by trial and error.
ReplyDeletebut I do love the one if just the muffin with a bite out of it.
Haven't tried the bamboo sheet although, now that you mention them, I just saw them for the first time recently. I guess I'll have to wait!
